Purpose
The Madison Heights Brownfield Redevelopment Authority promotes the revitalization and redevelopment of contaminated, blighted, or obsolete properties with the use of Tax Increment Financing.
Membership Information
Composition
This board is comprised of 8 to 12 members of the Downtown Development Authority and the Mayor and no less than a majority of the members shall be persons having an interest in property located within the downtown district.
Preferred (Not Required) Qualifications of board members
Knowledge of environmental regulations and brownfield redevelopment. Experience in urban planning, real estate development, or environmental science. Familiarity with economic development and financing tools: Knowledge of tax incentives, funding mechanisms (such as tax increment financing), and public-private partnerships used in brownfield redevelopment. Analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to assess the feasibility of redevelopment projects, including financial, environmental, and community impacts.
